New names for kids include Gandalf, Harry Potter and Arsenal... the latter, especially, has to some form of abuse, surely?

Stan Winston
Nice article praising sfx wizard Stan Winston from the director James Cameron who worked with him on The Terminator, Aliens and other films.
Plane Dead
The've had Snakes on a Plane, now Plane Dead brings you zombies on a plane. Genius. Must save a fortune on sets if nothing else. What are we going to have next? Vampires on a plane? They've already had 'ancient druid cursed stones on a plane'... with that great bad film Horror at 37,000 Feet.

Grindhouse trailer
I saw
this trailer recently and thought it looked brilliant. Then more recently re-watched From Dusk Till Dawn and was
reminded that that film was a bit duff really. I hope, with the same film makers, does not end up the same. What I would really like to see is
Tarentino's long awaited World War II epic Inglorius Bastards which he has had on the back burner for what seems like forever.
Though the latest rumour is that he's going to make a sequal to both Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs with John Travolta and Michael Madsen
playing the twin brothers of Vincent Vega and Mr Blonde (who were supposed to brothers anyway). This sounds total bonkers,
and if true confirms my worries that Tarentino is basically a spent force only fit to put his name on other people's films for
production duties.

Bride of Monster Mash-Up
It's past Halloween now but I'd still recommend this great album of horror-themed mash-ups. Highlights include a song by The Count from Sesame St, re-jigged versions of 'The Monster Mash' and 'Purple People Eater', and a sublime combination of AC DC and The Blue Oyster Cult plus some great quotes from horror classics such as the Halloween and Hellraiser series and The Exorcist. And it's free!
On the Edge of Blade Runner
A fantastic documentary on the film Blade Runner that was on Channel Four a few years ago is now available on Google Video.
Great interviews with all the relevant people and it answers the classic question (Was Deckard a replicant?). I am just counting down the days now
until the long awaited Ultimate Edition (or whatever they are going to call it) of the film comes out on DVD - which is rumoured to be part of a boxed set that will include the Theatrical Cut, the Director's Cut and a disk of extras.
They could do worse than include this documentary with it, like they
did with a similar doc in the Alien series boxed set. The new cut will probably just be tweaking (like the new cut of Alien) but I just really want
a decent all-inclusive dvd set for a film that is one of the best-looking ever and has some of the greatest lines of dialogue (my own actual favourite is the relatively obscure:
"It's too bad she won't live! But then again, who does?")
Good Day, Mr Kubrick...
This is just painful.
This guy, Brian Atene, supposedly sent this audition tape to director Stanley Kubrick, when he holding open auditions for Full Metal Jacket back in the 80s. If it's not a spoof, Brian Atene is possibly the worse actor the world has ever seen. There's been a nice response posted - where is Mr Atene now?
64 Reasons to Watch Dungeons and Dragons
I once saw five minutes of Dungeons and Dragons on television and immediately dismissed it as a load of rubbish. But after reading this I'm tempted to go out and buy it!
