Land of the Dead
Finally caught up
with Land of the Dead… and well, it was a bit disappointing. I keep hoping for that vast
epic film with human-controlled zombie armies attacking each other in front of the White House (or
something) that Romero was supposed to have written ages ago. Never having enough money, he apparently trimmed it down the script to make Day of
the Dead and has now picked bits from it to make Land. It’s a real shame, given he’s basically a legend,
that he churns out something as second rate as this - with derivative stuff nicked from everywhere and a
baggy screenplay with no real drive… or scares, which for a horror movie is unforgivable. The gun-crunching
was so lame and by the numbers I ate my supper through most of it!
