Sheena is a parasite

Director Chris Cunningham is a special kind of genius. Just see his latest - a video for The Horrors staring one of my favourite actresses, Samantha Morton.

Glad to hear he's trying to get a feature written - I really really would have liked to see what he would have made of Neuromancer, but sadly that's never going to happen now.

I'm sure I've heard that before

The Wilhelm Scream is an old stock sound effect that has became a bit of in-joke among Hollywood sound editors. I first heard about it a while back when I found a web site dedicated to it. I've since noticed it in a number of films like Reservoir Dogs and the King Kong remake.

Then more recently I found this compilation of clips from some of the films where it used.

It gets a bit repetitive but it's surprising just how inventive people have been in fitting the corny old scream into some unlikely situations.

The god of drummers.

Well I was really board and I was surfing around YouTube looking at drum solos of all things when I came upon this gem... the greatest drummer in the world, ever. And Buddy Rich!

But seriously Buddy still rules - as someone comments it was like he was possessed by some drumming demon or something!

Come back after these messages

The Call Well they say that sometimes the ads are better than the telly programs, well sometimes the web ads are better that the sites.

This is an oldie but a goody - the Pirelli devil thing.

And there are these six films based around colour to advertise some trainers ... they all are good but I love white, with its porn-star whack-a-mole, the androids of yellow, the frankly deranged pink and the dark, dark, (of course) black.

Of course ads don't even have to be real to be entertaining... as this smutty version of the recent Mac vs. PC ads for PS3 vs. Wii shows.

And this version of Grand Theft Auto is just great.

Science fiction stuff

The second episodeof the sublime Chad Vadar - Day Shift Manager Still the funniest Star Wars parody I've seen.

Someone's gone a bit mental and turned their house into Moonbase Alpha from Space 1999.

Oh and why are so many bad science fiction films made? Because we still pay to go see them, that's why.

Follow the Bouncing Ball

Remember the advert with all those balls bouncing down the hill... yeah, this one. Well it turns out the groovy tune they used was a cover. And the original is infinity more groovy, by Swedish electro-pop band The Knife. The video's great as well.

And this one.

Plus this one as well.

Sopranos Theme Remix

Bada Bing! I really must get The Sopranos on DVD.

I want one, I want one now!

Mecha Robot Some bloke in Japan has built a big stompy mecha-robot 'land walker' thing. Well, it not so much stomps, as shuffles, as you can see in this video.

And the gun's a bit feeble. But it's a start. And I want one.
